OUR IBM CONNECT

The IBM Centre of Excellence at NMAM Institute of Technology, Managlore, Karnataka was inaugurated on 8th September, 2009 by Sunil Kinger, Country Manager - WW, Global System Integrator Alliance.

Academic Initiative team has conducted a Training and Certification camp on DB2/RAD/TDS/RFT/ Lotus/WID.. From 2009, we have been seeing progressive participation in TGMC and other IBM associated activities. We have been awarded the IBM Software Centre of Excellence in Dec 2010. In TGMC 2009, 20+ teams participated and 3 qualified for F2F.

In TGMC 2010, 100+ teams (400 Students) participated and 7 teams qualified for F2F and the University got into top 30 colleges list of IBM. We met out the criteria and qualified to have the TGMC workshops conducted at our University in 2009 & 2010. IBM Academic Initiative Programs have motivated the students to look at international certifications in a friendly manner and has given them confidence that these certifications are achievable as students. Year 2010-11 was a year of achievement and good start. As of date, we have 400+ IBM certified students on various technologies.

Our University was the first to venture into DB2-309 in southern India. Z/OS Matstery Test (IBM Z-001) is an Exam, a student can take by collecting prometric coupon from IBM,US . Students have to prepare on their own with the help of the study materials provided by IBM US and take prometric test at outside prometric centres . 40 of our students have got this certifications on their own. This would not have been possible without the help of the IBM AI. As of date we have 10 Blue scholar Certificates collected by our University and 5 more we are eligible to collect this month. This is an initiative by IBM to recognize the student's achievement. We are proud to have been a Venue partner for "THE GREAT MIND QUIZ 2011" by IBM, which saw huge number of students and hence going for 2 rounds of prelims. We had the privilege to associate with IBM as Nodal centre for TGMC 2010 F2F. Now we are recognized in Top 30 Colleges in TGMC 2010 by IBM. We see another performing year 2011-12. From top 30 colleges of IBM, we hope to grab the place in top 20 teams. Often the industry believes that engineering colleges are not producing employable engineers. We believe, the IBM academic Initiative and The Great Mind Challenge national Project Competition and our partnership as centre of excellence is helping us to produce employable matured engineers.
